MN7200NM Discovering the Digital World for a DIGI-FIT Future
(20 credits)

This module presents the digital concepts utilized by modern day businesses, new trends and future trends in the business world. This introduces learners to current debates about the role of digital technologies in society and how they add competitive advantage to organisations. The module will consider where and how digital technologies impact competition in the industry, how to utilize new technologies to gain a competitive edge and the customers are affected by the utilization of technologies.

The aims of this module are to

  • Build knowledge and understanding on building and managing technology systems in modern businesses.
  • Prepare the participants to tackle challenges of modern businesses in digital world.

Equip students to be able to analyse and recommend improvements to the operation of a business system, whether a start-up or a well-established enterprise

MN7201NM Embracing Frontier Technologies & Industry 4.0 (20 credits)

With the drive towards industry 4.0 and technological innovations, the businesses in modern age are changing at an unprecedented rate. More and more organizations are adapting modern technologies to their business operations, in order to adapt to market trends, gain competitive advantage and increase business efficiency.

Modern technologies such as Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud computing, Robotics etc. are disrupting how businesses manage their operations. This module intends to expose the participants to these modern technologies and applications in business environments.

The aim of this module is to provide the participants with critical knowledge and skills on new and emerging technologies utilized by modern businesses, so that they would be conversant on how and when different technologies can be applied to different business scenarios. Special emphasis will be given to applications of this technology and challenges in implementing these technologies.

MN7202NM Integrating Business Strategy & Digital Transformation
(20 credits)

In the modern business environment, many businesses are in the process or have completed transforming their business operations into the digital domain by the use of a range of digital tools from apps to AI. This module explores how new and existing business strategies can be improved through the introduction of technologies and digital systems. This will allow the participants to advantage of the opportunities created by new digital technologies in their respective organizations.

The aims of the module are to

  • Develop understanding and skills in strategy development and in execution
  • Take strategic decisions based on a deep understanding of their business and the market or markets they serve
  • Expose the students to strategic management of businesses with special focus on new ways in which companies can use technology to improve their best practices.

MN7203NM Leading Enterprise Innovation & Design Thinking (20 credits)

In 21st century workplaces, business leaders are confronted with unprecedented complexity and change. In order to respond rapidly to changes in the external environment, today’s leaders and managers are required to lead and manage innovation, and create an environment that fosters and enhances design thinking. This module aims to equip students with an in-depth knowledge of innovation process, its importance to the economy, the factors affecting its success and theories of design thinking.

Aims of this module are to:

  1. Raise participant’s awareness of the need for design thinking and innovative behaviour in the business environment
  2. Introduce the concepts of innovation, entrepreneurship theory and creativity
  3. Apply design thinking concepts to a business problem
  4. Utilise analytical tools to evaluate the commercial viability of potential opportunities
  5. Relate student’s knowledge and experience to developing their own personal and professional methods of managing innovation in practice.

MN7204NM Data Analytics & Data Security in Modern Business
(20 credits)

Business analytics is a powerful tool in today’s marketplace. Across industries, organizations are generating vast amounts of data which, in turn, has heightened the
need for professionals who know how to interpret and analyze that information. In this module, students will learn how to use data analytics to describe, predict, and inform business decisions in the areas such as marketing, human resources, and operations. Furthermore, students will develop basic data literacy and an analytic mindset that will help them make strategic decisions based on data in their respective fields.

The aims of this module are:

  • Develop an understanding of the role of business analytics in an organisation
  • Develop an appreciation of a range of analytical methods to improve decision making in organisations
  • Develop an understanding of big data, and related ethical issues, and how it can be used to inform decision-making
  • To extend competence in the use of computer packages
  • Develop an awareness of cyber security issues

MN7205NM Transforming Organisations; Leading & Managing Change (20 credits)

This module will provide the students with an introduction to concepts of strategy, policy, leadership, innovation and change management. This will be followed by an analysis of contexts, core values, problem identification, options analysis, models of decision-making and implementation. Strategies of, and management of change are a key focus of this module. The evaluation of the success of strategic decisions and an appraisal of ethical issues arising are also considered in this.

The module will enable delegates to identify the key principles of change management, and to manage their organisation through a period of change in a planned and managed fashion. includes both internally driven changes and those over which the organisation has little or no control over (legislation etc).

The aims of this module are to:

  • Develop participant’s understanding of leadership, predominantly within an environment of change
  • Provide skills and knowledge of the participants to enable them to perform analysis of skill-gaps within business environments.
  • Equip participants to initiate and lead change in organisations and to manage conflict that might arise from the change process.

MN7206NM The Digital Transformation Process & Project Management (20 credits)

The aims of this module are to:

  • To build knowledge and skills required for the development of digital transformation process for organizations.
  • Introduce strategies associated with execution of digital transformation processes in business environments.
  • Build and develop project management skills that can be applied to organisational situations.
  • Enable students critically to assess project proposals and reports

MN7P99NM Work Based Project (40 credits)

This module enables the students to gain 1st hand experience in development of a digital transformation plan of an organization of their choice.

Students are expected, via independent research, to develop an awareness of the importance of rigorous investigative techniques, standards of data collection and analysis in business making.

Students are to produce a valid plan for a digital transformation process, which includes background research in the form of a literature review, which could be presented to the board members the respective company. The document should be to a professional standard and suitable for both an academic and business audience.

The aims of this module are:

  • To undertake, with the necessary supervision, an independent, digital transformation project plan based on an agreed proposal. This should be applicable for a real organization of choice and should include strategically sound recommendations for the execution of the plan.
  • To foster a critical awareness and deep understanding on the process of digital transformation and to combine knowledge and analysis acquired in core MSc modules to explore the implementation of process of digital transformation.
  •  To introduce the students to the concepts of conducting background research, development of an efficient project plan and effective writing methods.
