NEXT Campus held its Avurudu Uthsawaya 2026, hosted by the 1st batch of our BSc Airline, Airport, and Aviation Management full-time batch, and honestly, it was nothing short of iconic. While the April sun was busy trying to bake the pavement outside, things were heating up inside the campus in the best way possible.
The decision to pivot to an indoor venue was more than a matter of comfort. The Organizers swapped the outdoor glare for a high-energy atmosphere where the aroma of traditional sweetmeats and the sound of nonstop laughter filled the halls. Within the campus walls, every cheer felt ten times louder, creating an intimate yet electric environment for the day’s proceedings.
Competitive Spirit: Where Precision Met Play
Traditional festivities took center stage as students engaged in a series of high-stakes games. The aviation crew curated a lineup that kept participants on their toes, proving that whether handling a flight deck or a festival floor, strategy is key:
- Banis Kama: The crowd-favorite bun-eating contest provided the kind of messy, hilarious highlight that had the whole room in stitches.
- The Classics: The Lime and Spoon Race put the steady hands of future aviation professionals to the ultimate test, while the Balloon Dance and Musical Chairs turned the student lounge into a high-stakes tactical zone.
- Placing the Eye on the Elephant: This test of focus turned out to be way trickier than it looks, even for a crowd accustomed to navigating complex airport layouts.
- The Main Event: Things reached a whole new level of hype with the Avurudu Kumara and Kumariya pageant, crowning the festival’s ambassadors of tradition and grace.
A Legacy in the Making
At the heart of the Uthsawaya was a celebration of the bond built by the inaugural BSc Airline, Airport, and Aviation Management batch. In the fast-paced world of airlines and logistics, teamwork is the entire game. By successfully executing an event of this scale, these students demonstrated that they are not just learning to manage terminals, they are learning to lead and unite communities.
As the day wound down and the final traditional treats were shared, the sentiment among attendees was unanimous: the heat outside didn’t stand a chance against the energy inside.
A significant shoutout goes to the first batch of BSc Airline, Airport, and Aviation Management for setting the bar so high. This event marks the beginning of many more years of celebrating culture and the future of aviation, right here at NEXT Campus.
